Enterprising Women, Tech & Innovation at SXSW Sydney

The Enterprising ME team had another exciting four days at the SXSW Sydney Tech & Innovation Expo this year, connecting with trailblazing women, entrepreneurs, investors and innovators from across the globe.

Shared Experiences

Over four days, we met hundreds of people eager to learn about and support our work, which involves supporting women in their entrepreneurial journeys and sharing stories of resilience and success.

Women spoke to us about their ideas for starting a business and taking those first steps. We introduced them to our business toolkits, which help women with tailored resources like business registration checklists, marketing plan templates, and guides to understanding IP. Whether brainstorming the best resources or discussing the unique challenges and opportunities women entrepreneurs experience, there was something for women at all stages of their business journey.

Passionate women entrepreneurs based in Australia and across the globe, from tech startups to creative industries, connected with us and brought fresh energy and ideas for building sustainable, successful businesses.

People are interacting at a booth titled "Enterprising Me" at a convention or expo. The booth includes colorful decor and a screen, with several individuals engaged in conversation or browsing materials.

Ask A Mentor

We asked visitors at our booth to share the one key question they would ask a business mentor. The insights they offered – whether about overcoming failure or balancing growth—are now influencing how we can help more women entrepreneurs benefit from mentoring support across Australia, regardless of where they live and at all stages of life.

From ‘How do I preserve my energy?’ to ‘Where would you invest your time when starting a new business?’ to ‘At what point is the risk of moving from my job to a side business worth it?’, these questions will help us build our resources and offerings even further for women across their business journey.

A wall filled with circular stickers containing handwritten business-related questions, such as "How do you convince someone to invest in you?" and "Where should I focus my limited resource which is attention?.

Next Steps

Our time at SXSW Sydney reinforced female entrepreneurs’ value and untapped potential in Australia. With the new ideas and inspiration gathered, we look forward to sharing even more resources in the coming months to help women bring their business ideas to life.

If you’re interested in leaping into entrepreneurship but don’t know where to start, look at our toolkits – they’re full of practical tips and resources to give you the building blocks of entrepreneurship and help you get on your way.

As women in business, managing our energy effectively is essential for success and overall well-being. By implementing the above strategies, you will be on your way to not only protecting but elevating your personal energy.
