Five women to take the stage at the 2024 Kickstarter Grand Final

Five women have been named finalists in the 2024 Kickstarter Challenge and will share a total prize pool of $60,000 in equity-free funding for their businesses.

Each finalist will now pitch their ideas to an expert judging panel at a Grand Final event, supported by Visa, in Canberra on Wednesday, 9 October. The winner will take home $30,000 for their business.

The finalists are:

Climate Change and Sustainability

Kylie Wallace’s Upcycle

Upcycle propels Australia’s circular economy by selling (upcycling) unwanted household goods.  It redefines waste as valuable resources, reducing items that are sent to landfill, and sharing the profits with the sellers. It’s a win-win-win for the planet, customers and Australia’s growing waste problem!

Community Impact

Catherine McDougall’s Support Plus

The Support Plus Future Plan ensures seamless care in the lives of people living with disability. It is the first digital platform designed to capture a vulnerable individual’s whole of life needs, creating a personalised plan for both current and future care. With over 93% of people living with disabilities and their family not having a Future Plan, many caregivers are left asking, “What happens to my loved one if something happens to me?”

Fintech or ecomerce

Catherine Said’s Gooday Corporation

Gooday revolutionises the way people manage their personal and professional responsibilities by providing an AI-driven, all-in-one booking and task management solution. It is a fully integrated, centralised software and app that streamlines bookings between businesses and consumers. By automating the complexities of booking management, it allows the consumer to focus on what truly matters.

Health, Wellbeing and the Care Economy

Rosie Dumbrell’s Everform Therapywear

Ebony Kriedemann and Morgan Becker’s InPsync

InPsync is a mental health mobile app designed to make finding the right therapist easier and more personalised. It works much like a dating app, matching users with therapists based on their personality and communication style. InPsync’s mission is clear: make quality mental health support easy, personal, and accessible to everyone.

The Kickstarter Challenge is an initiative of the Accelerator for Enterprising Women – a program designed to support and empower Australian women aged 18+ to pursue their dreams of starting a business.

Only 22 per cent of Australian start-ups are founded by women, who continue to face barriers in bringing their business ideas to life.

Kickstarter aims to give these women a platform to showcase their idea to the world and unlock the untapped entrepreneurial potential across Australia.
