Kickstarter Challenge 2024 Finalist: Ebony Kriedemann and Morgan Becker

Mental health innovators Ebony Kriedemann and Morgan Becker are making waves in the mental health space with their groundbreaking app, InPsync. This innovative platform acts as a “matchmaker” for individuals seeking mental health therapists, connecting users with professionals based on their unique support needs and personality traits. The concept earned them a finalist spot in the 2024 Kickstarter Challenge, chosen from 300 entries, where they also secured the most votes in the Public Vote category.

The idea for InPsync was born from Ebony and Morgan’s shared passion for mental health care and their desire to make therapy more accessible and personalised for everyone. “At InPsync, we’re on a mission to break down barriers and make mental health support accessible to everyone,” Ebony explained. “Our first step is to help people find the right therapist.”

What sets InPsync apart is its highly tailored approach to therapy matching. Recognising that no two individuals are the same, the app helps users find therapists who align not just with their expertise and therapeutic methods but also with their personality and support style. Users answer questions about their problem-solving approach and what traits they value in a therapist, applying filters like location, gender, cultural background, specialties, and therapeutic methods to find the best match.

Research shows that up to 30% of positive therapy outcomes result from a strong client-therapist match, making this personalised approach crucial for success.

“This not only ensures that the therapist is a good fit for the user’s needs, but it also reduces the anxiety many people feel when opening up to a stranger,” Ebony added. “Focusing on individualised matching and improving accessibility, InPsync aims to transform how Australians approach therapy.”

With mental health challenges at an all-time high—nine Australians take their lives every day—InPsync is tackling critical barriers to mental health care by offering a simpler, more personalised way to connect with professionals.

Still in its development stage, InPsync is poised to make a significant impact on mental health care. Stay tuned for updates as this innovative platform continues its mission to transform therapy access for all Australians.
