Making Parenthood Playful Again

Shehara Pillai, PlayPass

Between nap times, meal times, and endless to-do lists, every parent knows how hard it can be to find something fun and meaningful to do with their little ones.

For Shehara Pillai, a veterinarian and policy expert turned entrepreneur, that frustration became the spark for PlayPass – a platform designed to make life simpler for parents and more joyful for children.

When Shehara’s son turned three, she realised that finding quality, drop-in activities for toddlers was surprisingly difficult. Everything required long-term enrolments or endless searching across social media and local noticeboards.

So, she decided to build the solution herself.

PlayPass brings parents and providers together in one easy, searchable platform. Families can filter by location, child’s age, and time of day to find classes, playgroups, and events that fit their schedule – from music and sensory play to art, sports, and storytime.

For providers, PlayPass is a powerful discovery tool, helping small businesses and community groups connect with local families who are ready to attend.

With 250+ parents and over 25 activity providers already on board, PlayPass is growing quickly and solving a real problem for time-poor families.

Now, Shehara is preparing to take her pitch to the national stage – Parliament House on November 20, where she’ll compete for the $30,000 Kickstarter Grand Prize. Her goal? To make play easier, more meaningful, and more connected for every family in Australia.
